Inspiration

I woke up early today with the wonderful realisation that there was nothing I had to do.  I ventured outside to retrieve the newspaper only to find that half of it was missing :(  Oh well.  I read what part of the newspaper I had, went to the shops briefly to get some essentials (like the other half of the newspaper) and arrived home to decide what wonderful, creative things I would do with my free day.  A hot 32 degrees and no car meant that it would have to be something at home.  Ok!

What to do?  What to do?  I went into my studio, flicked through my journals, pulled out a blank canvas from the cupboard, poured over the internet for ideas... nothing!

Over lunch I read some more of the newspaper and came across an article http://www.theage.com.au/lifestyle/homestyle/give-us-this-day-our-daily-thread-20111229-1pdtz.html about a woman who had just today completed 365 days of craft.  Wow!  I had once participated in Leah's 'Art Every Day Month' challenge - http://creativeeveryday.com/art-every-day-month where the aim was to do something creative every day for a month.  I was really lacking motivation at the time (like now!) so considered it an amazing feat to complete the month but I'll admit that it was a struggle.

So now I was completely overwhelmed.  I headed to the couch for a rest, feeling particularly pathetic.

After a short nap, I finally got the inspiration I was searching for.  My 'Jubby Doll' sat sadly incomplete in a box in my studio, as she had done for far too long.  Her purpose, once complete, was to sit on my desk as a reminder as to what was possible, my inspiration.  The time was NOW... well, tomorrow actually, I've run out of time now today :)

  1. Your muse has been patiently waiting....Jubby......dust her off and breathe a little life into her and maybe she'll repay you with lots of magic! Can't wait to make her acquaintance!

  2. Hope you've had some time to get back to your Jubby Doll. The article about the 365-Days-of-Craft-Woman was indeed inspiring - thanks for sharing.

  3. Sometimes I get frustrated that my muse is a little too patient Jody :) My focus this year is to embrace the small steps that I take in the creative process. I'm already feeling the "magic" of that!

The Jubby Doll is coming along Yenny but she seems to be taking an unexpected direction so stay tuned!
